Bring one real problem to the session
The people who get the most out of an hour with us arrive with something specific they are stuck on. Not a topic. A problem, with its detail...
Read moreMost of what goes wrong at the start of a seminar is fixable beforehand, and takes about ten minutes.
The joining link comes to the address you registered with, and it comes twice: once when you sign up, once on the morning of the session. If neither has arrived, it is nearly always in a filter rather than lost, and writing to us gets it resent within the hour.
Open the link ten minutes early rather than on the hour. That is enough time to find out that your browser wants permission for the microphone, that the audio is coming out of the wrong device, or that the network you are on blocks the meeting entirely — all of which are quick to fix at ten to, and none of which are quick to fix at five past.
Use a browser rather than a phone if you have the choice. The slides carry code and tables in some sessions, and neither survives a small screen well.
If you are joining as a group from one room, join once from one machine and put it on the screen. Several laptops in one room means several microphones, and the feedback is worse than the convenience.

Everyone who registers gets the recording. It is worth saying plainly what the recording does and does not give you.
